Anthony S. Kim, MD, MAS, is a professor of neurology at UCSF where he is the Erich Friend Endowed Professor of Vascular Neuroscience and a faculty affiliate of the UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences. He is medical director of the UCSF Comprehensive Stroke Center and is the director of Consultation Services for the UCSF Clinical and Translational Science Institute. His global health interests include the epidemiology and global burden of cerebrovascular disease. Dr. Kim helped to coin the term “global stroke belt” to describe the geographic disparities in the burden of disease from stroke globally. He has experience as a front-line neurology provider in Haiti.
