ARISES: African Rigorous Innovative Stroke      Epidemiological Surveillance

The goal of African Rigorous Innovative Stroke Epidemiological Surveillance (ARISES) is to deploy and validate a first-of-its-kind community-based interactive Stroke Information and Surveillance System (SISS) to measure and track the population burden of stroke in an urban and rural area of Nigeria. The ARISES model, which integrates novel e-surveillance methods and community engagement, has the potential to be scalable to other low resource-settings in the US and in low and middle-income countries with a goal of improving the ease and accuracy of epidemiological studies of stroke burden while improving stroke literacy, prevention, and outcomes.
