Alexandra Brown, MD, is a clinician-educator in the UCSF Department of Neurology based at San Francisco General Hospital. As director of outpatient neurology at San Francisco General Hospital, she is passionate about health equity and works to ensure patient access. She directs a neurology outpatient rotation, "Care for the Underserved," where she strives to promote equitable care by teaching an empathic and inclusive bedside manner, as well as strategies for how to maximize patient engagement in neurological care. As director of neurology education at San Francisco General Hospital, she is the Neuro 140.10 subinternship course director, Neuro 110 site director, and oversees all trainees who rotate on neurology at San Francisco General Hospital. Dr. Brown focuses academically on medical education, with a particular research interest in medical student assessment on clinical clerkships. Combining her passions for both equity and assessment, she co-developed a faculty workshop in the Teach for UCSF program covering the topic of "Equitable Assessment," which she delivers regularly as part of the Teaching for Equity and Inclusion Certificate program. She is a graduate of the Teaching Scholars Program (2018-2019) and the UCSF-Coro Faculty Leadership Collaborative (2019-2020).
